
ANKARA, April 3 (Reuters) - Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Thursday.
The lira TRYTOM=D3 traded at 37.9450 against the U.S. dollar at 0139 GMT, after closing at 37.97 on Wednesday.
The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 1.41% lower at 9,523.31 points on Wednesday.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Stocks dived and investors scrambled to the safety of bonds, gold and the yen on Thursday as U.S. President Donald Trump unveiled a bigger-than-expected wall of tariffs around the world's largest economy, upending trade and supply chains.
The U.S. also announced a 10% tariff on imports from Turkey.
INFLATION TRCPI=ECI
The Turkish Statistical Institute will announce inflation data for March (0700 GMT). In a Reuters poll, the monthly consumer price inflation rate was seen at 3%, and the annual rate is expected to fall to 38.9% in March.
FOREIGN MINISTER
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will attend a NATO Foreign Ministers meeting in Brussels.
JAILED ISTANBUL MAYOR
Turkey's government denounced opposition calls for a mass commercial boycott following the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu that sparked nationwide protests, describing them on Wednesday as an economic "sabotage attempt".
OPPOSITION
Nationalist opposition IYI Party leader Musavvat Dervisoglu will visit jailed Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu and the jailed leader of far-right Victory Party in Marmara Prison near Istanbul (0830 GMT).
