AFTER FORECAST CUTS, GOLDMAN’S KOSTIN ON WHERE TO INVEST

Goldman Sachs’ chief U.S. equity strategist David Kostin this week pared his expectations for the S&P 500 .SPX, while also cutting earnings per share expectations for the index.

So where does he recommend investors invest?

In a note on Tuesday, Kostin recommends an “Insensitive Portfolio” of stocks that have “minimal correlation to key thematic drivers of recent equity market volatility.” He further points to Stable Growth Stocks, or those with the least variable earnings growth during the last decade.

When it comes to signs of a trough, meanwhile, Kostin says to look for accelerating macro data, more asymmetry in market pricing and extremely light positioning.
