Shares in Mexican cement maker Cemex tick down after a report that the firm is eyeing a sale of its Colombian unit

Bloomberg News reports that Cemex is gauging interest, with potential buyers considered to be Holcim HOLN.S and Cementos Molins CMTM.SCT

Cemex's Colombia business could be valued between $700 million and $1 billion

"The company has been in the process of rebalancing its portfolio in recent years, and that generates various rumors," Cemex tells Reuters in a written statement

Cemex has already sold off a number of non-core businesses, including in the Philippines, Dominican Republic and Guatemala, to shift focus toward the U.S.

Shares in the firm down by as much as 3% to 12.99 pesos ($0.6350) apiece before closing

U.S.-listed ADRs also slip nearly 3%

($1 = 20.4571 Mexican pesos)
