STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex .BSESN dropped 1.6% to 75838.36, while the broader NSE Nifty 50 index .NSEI declined 1.4% to 23024.65, succumbing to uncertainty over Donald Trump's plans for India after the U.S. president announced trade tariffs on its neighbouring countries within hours of taking office. .BO
RUPEE:
The Indian rupee INR=IN closed largely unchanged versus the U.S. dollar at 86.5775, shedding early gains as the U.S. dollar recovered after President Donald Trump said he was thinking about imposing tariffs on Canada and Mexico. INR/
GOVERNMENT BONDS:
The benchmark 10-year bond IN067934G=CC was quoted at 100.3575 rupees, with the yield down 2 bps at 6.7373%, encouraged by the fall in U.S. Treasury yields after President Trump did not impose major tariffs on his first day in office, indicating a gradual approach. IN/
OVERNIGHT INDEX SWAPS:
The one-year overnight index swap rate INR1YMIBROIS=CC was down 2 basis points at 6.425%, while the five-year swap rate INR5YMIBROIS=CC dropped over 4 bps to 6.1875%.
CALL MONEY:
India's overnight call money rate INROND= was at 5.75% and the overnight TREPS rate INTREPTOT=TCCL was at 6.78%.
