Jan 8 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index was subdued at the open on Wednesday, with investors assessing U.S. jobs data and a report saying President-elect Donald Trump was mulling declaring a national economic emergency to allow for new tariffs.
At 9:32 a.m. ET (1432 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 0.05%, or 12.14 points, at 25,917.75.
