South Korea's Lee to pursue wartime command transfer, selective conscription

SEOUL, March 27 (Reuters) - South Korean President Lee Jae Myung on Friday said the country would seek to restore the transfer of wartime operational control to Seoul at an early date, underscoring the need for greater military self-reliance.

In a meeting with top brass at the defence ministry, Lee also said his government would pursue military reforms such as implementing a selective conscription system to better reflect demographic and security realities.
