US antitrust enforcers to revamp guidelines on rivals collaborating

ReutersFeb 23, 2026 8:28 PM

- The U.S. Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission will open a public inquiry to inform new guidelines for businesses on the bounds of the law when it comes to collaborating with competitors, a senior DOJ official told reporters on Monday.

The development is notable amid the rise of businesses that aggregate industry data and advise their customers on pricing. The agencies are calling for public input on what types of new practices and technologies they should address in the guidance, the official said.

The previous guidelines were issued in 2000 and withdrawn in December 2024, during President Joe Biden's administration, after the agencies said they were outdated.
