MEXICO CITY, Feb 23 (Reuters) - Mexican Defense Minister Ricardo Trevilla said on Monday that information leading to the capture and death of Mexico's most wanted cartel boss stemmed from a romantic partner of the crime boss.
The raid against Jalisco New Generation cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera, alias "El Mencho," occurred on Sunday morning. His death triggered waves of cartel violence across Mexico, as cartel operatives sought revenge attacks.
President Claudia Sheinbaum said there were no road blocks as of Monday morning and that her priority was re-establishing peace and security across the country.
