US vaccine panel votes to recommend standalone chickenpox shots for toddlers

- A U.S. advisory panel to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Thursday recommended that toddlers receive standalone chickenpox vaccines rather than a combined measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (MMRV) shot, citing higher seizure risks linked to the combination dose.

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) voted 8-3 in favor of the new guidance, which applies to children between 12 months and three years of age.
