CANADA FX DEBT - Canadian dollar weakens, benchmark yield climbs

The Canadian dollar weakened against the greenback on Friday, and the yield on benchmark government debt climbed.

The loonie CAD= was trading 0.1% lower at C$1.3842 to the greenback, or 72.24 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.3832 to 1.3861.

Canadian government 10-year bond yields CA10YT=RR rose 3 basis points to 3.2%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt rose to 4.0643%.

U.S. October crude CLc1 futures rose $1.09 to $63.46 a barrel on Friday.

The value of building permits in Canada rose -0.1% in July, Statistics Canada said.
