- North Korean leader Kim Jong Un returned to the country's capital, Pyongyang, on Friday afternoon after visiting China, North Korean state media KCNA said on Friday.

A separate batch of photos released by the state media confirmed that his daughter, Ju Ae, accompanied her father Kim on the train back home.

She was also seen when Kim disembarked from a bulletproof train as he arrived in China on Tuesday, but remained out of the public eye for the rest of the visit.

Her appearance fuelled speculation that she may be her father's potential successor in the family's dynastic rule over the nuclear-armed state.

She has previously appeared alongside him to observe major missile launches.

Kim and Chinese President Xi Jinping reaffirmed the longstanding relationship between the two countries in their first bilateral meeting in six years.
