Canadian PM Carney planning to visit Mexico in September, says source
Aug 15 (Reuters) - Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is planning to visit Mexico on September 18 to meet with President Claudia Sheinbaum and discuss closer ties amid U.S. tariffs, a person familiar with the matter said on Friday.
The source said the exact date had yet to be formally confirmed. The news was first reported by Bloomberg.
Reuters reported earlier this month that Carney was scrambling to save ties with Mexico after Canadian officials suggested last year that Ottawa would be better off negotiating a bilateral trade deal with the United States.
