Insurtech Gateway acquires Lloyd's broker license

Aug 15 - (The Insurer) - Insurtech Gateway has acquired a Lloyd's broker license in a move that will enable the specialist insurtech incubator to trade within the Lloyd's market.

This gives the company a new broker status, which will help it find capacity for its founders by directly connecting its portfolio companies to the insurance marketplace.

Insurtech Gateway said that one of the biggest barriers for MGA start-ups is to secure underwriting capacity.

As an authorised Lloyd’s broker, the company can now walk founders directly into the market, helping them find the right underwriting partners and secure capacity faster, the company said.

Insurtech Gateway is a specialist insurtech investor that supports early-stage MGA and SaaS founders with underwriting capacity, regulatory compliance, seed capital and guidance. It has its authorised incubators in London and Sydney.
