Swiss government says it will continue negotiations with US on tariffs

BERLIN, Aug 4 (Reuters) - The Swiss government said on Monday that it would continue negotiations with the United States on tariffs after experts warned that the 39% import duties announced by President Donald Trump could trigger a recession in Switzerland.

"The Federal Council is determined to pursue discussions with the United States beyond the current joint statement proposal and, if necessary, beyond the August 7 deadline," it said in a statement.
