June 16 - (The Insurer) - Howden Group CEO David Howden was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in King Charles' 2025 birthday honours.
Recipients of the honours can be appointed to an order, granted a medal, or bestowed lifelong peerage. The lists of honourees are published at new year and on the monarch's official birthday in June.
Howden was awarded the honour for services to the insurance industry.
He started his career as a broker at Alexander Howden in 1981 and went on to found Howden Group in 1994, originally as a wholesale broker employing just three people.
The group's revenue passed the 3 billion pound ($4.1 billion) mark in 2024 with total headcount of around 20,000 across 55 countries.
The industry entrepreneur was one of 1,200 people listed on the main honours list issued by the Cabinet Office on Friday.
He is the latest senior industry executive to be recognised in the list after Aviva CEO Amanda Blanc was made a dame “for services to business, to gender equality, and to net-zero”.
