May 20 - (The Insurer) - Former Progressive Corporation CEO and chairman Glenn Renwick has died at the age of 69 following a car accident.
Renwick spent over three decades at Progressive, beginning his career with the personal lines giant in 1986 and stepping down in 2016 following a more than 15 year stint as CEO.
During his time with the Mayfield Village, Ohio-based company, Progressive’s annual revenue grew from about $750 million in 1986 to nearly $27 billion at the time of his retirement, the company said in a statement.
“Glenn’s contributions to Progressive were enormous, but one of the first things that comes to mind as I reflect on his work is his commitment to our core values. He was a standard-bearer for them, living them fully and intentionally every day,” said Tricia Griffith, CEO and Renwick's successor in an internal post to the company.
“Glenn was an incredible leader and all he ever wanted to do was leave Progressive better than he found it. Without doubt, he accomplished that.”
