Brazilian motor maker WEG reports 16.4% rise in first-quarter net profit

SAO PAULO, April 30 (Reuters) - Brazilian motor maker WEG WEGE3.SA on Wednesday reported a first-quarter net profit of 1.54 billion reais ($274 million), up 16.4% from a year earlier but falling short of the 1.78 billion expected by analysts in an LSEG poll.
WEG's net revenue for the quarter reached 10.08 billion reais, a 25.5% year-on-year increase although also below the 10.49 billion forecast by analysts.
