- (The Insurer) - Co-founder and CEO Nick Tye is to step down from London MGU and Lloyd's syndicate Carbon Underwriting for health reasons, the company said on Monday.

Carbon said Tye was retiring from the CEO role following a diagnosis of progressive multiple sclerosis.

Fellow co-founder and chief underwriting officer Jacqui Ferrier has been appointed CEO with immediate effect.

Ferrier will continue to work closely with fellow co-founder and managing director Ben Laidlaw and chief financial officer Alex Poracchia.

Carbon was founded in 2018 with a focus on delegated underwriting through technology and data.

Carbon launched as a Lloyd’s syndicate-in-a-box via Asta Managing Agency in 2020, before transitioning to a full syndicate in 2023.
