Brown & Brown grows in UK with Irvine Commercial acquisition

April 16 - (The Insurer) - Brown & Brown has continued to expand its UK regional footprint with the acquisition of specialist broker Irvine Commercial Insurance Brokers Limited.
Kenilworth-based Irvine Commercial specialises in insurance broking services for local SMEs and offers a range of products including motor fleet, commercial combined, combined liability and contractors all risks.
The deal, which will bolster Brown & Brown’s presence in the Midlands, will see Irvine Commercial become part of Brown & Brown Europe.
Founded in the early 2000s by directors John Townsley and Matthew Finch, Irvine Commercial will continue to operate from its current location, with staff reporting to James Birrell, regional managing director at Brown & Brown Europe.
The acquisition has received regulatory approval, and the consideration for the deal is undisclosed.
Brown & Brown Europe is the rebranded Global Risk Partners (GRP), the private equity-backed broker consolidator acquired by the US intermediary in July 2022. The rebrand was implemented in September 2023.
