Exclusive: Axis hires Chord Re's Davey as marine reinsurance head

April 15 - (The Insurer) - Axis has hired Chord Re's Jonathan Davey as head of marine reinsurance, four senior reinsurance sources told The Insurer.
Davey has joined to fill the role of Chris Gray, who exited Axis to join Westfield Specialty as divisional director of its reinsurance division.
The Insurer could not confirm the timing for Davey to begin his new role at Axis.
He will join from Chord Re, where he acted as head of specialty. This followed a stint as head of marine, energy and terrorism at Aspen Re.
Davey is the second senior exit from Chord Re over the past 12 months after former CUO Ed Wheatley joined Aon to lead its marine reinsurance division's London market business.
Axis declined to comment. Chord Re did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
