April 14 (Reuters) - RedLeg Spiced Rum maker Distil DISD.L said on Monday it was relaunching its Blavod Black Vodka in the U.S., adding that the current tariff levels were manageable, and if they were lifted in the future, it would positively impact their supply chain.
Distil, which owns premium drinks brands, is partnering with AIKO Importers to reintroduce the Blavod Black vodka brand, years after its previous distributor withdrew during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This comes at a time when drinks industry bodies and analysts have warned that U.S. President Donald Trump's country-specific tariffs could lead to higher prices for cocktails, champagne, and foreign beers, potentially resulting in certain brands being removed from bar menus.
Still, Distil said, "we believe this to be good time to drive forward."
In March, Distil kicked off a strategic review, warned of lower annual revenue and said it was focusing on cost cutting, as rising inflation, a UK duty increase, additional employment costs and higher energy bills hurt the sector.
Vodka represents the biggest spirit category in the U.S. by volume, according to IWSR Drinks Market Analysis.
Distil said on Monday that shipments to the U.S. are planned to start by the end of June.
