BRASILIA, Feb 27 (Reuters) - Brazil's secretary for International Affairs at the Finance Ministry, Tatiana Rosito, will step down to take up a World Bank director position in Asia, three sources with knowledge of the matter told Reuters.
Mathias Alencastro, a special adviser to Finance Minister Fernando Haddad focused on international affairs, will assume the role vacated by Rosito, the same sources said.
The Finance Ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The changes are expected to be formalized next week, the sources said.
Rosito led the ministry's unit during Brazil's presidency of the Group of 20 major economies in 2024 and Brazil's chairmanship of the BRICS emerging economies group in 2025.
She also played an active role in Brazil's work as host of last year's United Nations COP30 climate summit, helping engage finance ministers on financial mechanisms to support the climate agenda.
Working closely with her, Alencastro was heavily involved in Brazil's proposal for the Tropical Forests Forever Facility, seen as the country's main deliverable at the COP.
Brazil aims to mobilize $10 billion in public resources for the initiative before handing over the COP presidency to Turkey in November.
The personnel changes come as Haddad has himself acknowledged that he expects to leave office soon, amid widespread expectations that his executive secretary, Dario Durigan, will take over.
Another recent senior-level change at the ministry was the departure of economic reform secretary Marcos Pinto, who was replaced by Regis Dudena in January.
