WASHINGTON, Sept 22 (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Monday said any U.S. action to help stabilize Argentina's currency would be "large and forceful," adding that Washington would not impose any new conditions or demands on such steps.
Bessent told reporters that all options for stabilization remained on the table, but no action would be taken until after U.S. President Donald Trump meets with Argentine President Javier Milei in New York on Tuesday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
Bessent said he did not see a risk of financial contagion stemming from Argentina's current crisis, adding that Washington was happy with Argentina's implementation of economic reforms.
