Brazil's Lula calls for BRICS financial integration amid tariff tensions
SAO PAULO, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Monday that trade and financial integration between the BRICS group of developing nations allows mitigating the effects of protectionism.
"Tariff blackmail is being normalized as a tool for conquering markets and interfering in domestic issues," Lula said without directly citing the United States, according to remarks published by the Brazilian government.
In an interview with Reuters last month, Lula said he would discuss President Donald Trump's tariffs with the BRICS group.
