Brazil lawmaker Eduardo Bolsonaro meets US Treasury chief amid push for sanctions
BRASILIA, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Brazil lawmaker Eduardo Bolsonaro said on Friday he met with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent earlier this week, as he lobbies for sanctions against officials involved in the trial of his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro.
The meeting took place on Wednesday, he said in a post on X, the same day Bessent had been scheduled to meet Brazilian Finance Minister Fernando Haddad. Haddad told reporters on Monday that the Treasury canceled the meeting without offering to reschedule.
