US Treasury's Bessent says debt ceiling 'X-date' is a moving target
WASHINGTON, June 11 (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Wednesday that the U.S. government would exhaust remaining borrowing capacity under the federal debt ceiling sometime during the mid-to-late summer.
Bessent told a U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee that the arrival of the so-called "X-date" when the U.S. can no longer pay all of its obligations, was a "moving target."
