Taiwan central bank says US has not requested Taiwan dollar's appreciation
TAIPEI, May 2 (Reuters) - Taiwan's central bank said on Friday that the United States had not requested the Taiwan dollar's TWD= appreciation and that the bank would continue to maintain the dollar's dynamic stability.
The central bank issued the statement after the Taiwan dollar hit its highest level for nearly 16 months against the greenback.
The bank added that media reports saying the United States may request currencies of major partners appreciate as part of tariff talks had led to the "anticipation" of the Taiwan dollar's appreciation on the currency markets on Friday.
