BOJ will keep raising rates if inflation converge toward 2%, governor Ueda says
WASHINGTON, April 24 (Reuters) - Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda said on Thursday the central bank will continue to raise interest rates if underlying inflation converges toward its 2% inflation target as projected.
But he said the central bank will scrutinise "without pre-conception" whether its forecasts will materialise, while looking at various data that become available.
Ueda made the comments in a news conference after attending a meeting of G7 and G20 finance leaders, held on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund meetings in Washington.
