Mexico to raise tariffs on cars from China to 50%

MEXICO CITY, Sept 10 (Reuters) - Mexico will raise its tariffs on automobiles from Asia and particularly from China to 50%, from a prior level of 20%, Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard said on Wednesday.

"They already have tariffs. What we will do is raise them to the maximum level allowed," Ebrard said, noting the tariffs would apply to light vehicles and auto parts.
