Aug 20 (Reuters) - The U.S. Department of Justice has received the criminal investigation referral for a probe into mortgages taken out by Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook and is taking it very seriously, a department official told Reuters on Wednesday.
U.S. Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte referred the matter to the DOJ, saying Cook had improperly listed homes in Michigan and Georgia as her primary residence in mortgages for the two properties. President Donald Trump later called on Cook to resign.
