July 16 (Reuters) - U.S. Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina said on Wednesday that firing the Federal Reserve Chair because "political people" don't agree with his economic decision-making would undermine U.S. credibility, adding that it would be a "huge mistake" to end the Fed's independence.
"You're going to see a pretty immediate response and we've got to avoid that," Tillis, a Republican member of the Senate banking committee, said on the floor of the U.S. Senate.
