Tesla's new car sales in Italy fell 20% in May

ReutersJun 3, 2025 4:22 PM

- Tesla's TSLA.O new car registrations were down by 20% in Italy in May, year-on-year data from the transport ministry showed on Tuesday, as vehicle sales for the U.S. EV maker fell sharply across several European markets last month.

In Italy, Tesla sold 855 vehicles in May, a relatively low number that can produce volatile monthly data.

In the January-May period, the U.S electric vehicle maker sold 4,771 new cars in Italy, down 7% from the same period of 2024, ministry data showed.

The automaker's May sales were also down in European countries such as France, Sweden and Portugal, a fifth consecutive monthly decline that has been blamed on CEO Elon Musk's political activities and an outdated model lineup.
