Powell: Strong goods inflation may be tied to tariffs

March 19 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said on Wednesday tariffs may already be driving up prices and purchasing for goods.

Powell, speaking at a press conference, said while it is "hard to trace" recent strong inflation and buying to the tariffs, it is "very possible" it is related and could be driven by people buying goods to get ahead of the Trump administration's agenda of import taxes.
