CHICAGO, March 17 (Reuters) - Cash basis bids for corn were steady to stronger in the U.S. Midwest on Tuesday, reflecting demand from grain handlers in some areas after Monday's steep decline in Chicago Board of Trade futures cooled farmer selling, dealers said.
The corn basis improved by 3 cents a bushel at a Cedar Rapids, Iowa, processing site, by 4 cents at a Davenport, Iowa, river elevator and by 4 cents at a Cincinnati, Ohio, terminal.
Soybean basis bids were mixed. The basis fell by 7 cents at Seneca, Illinois, on the Illinois River, and by 2 cents at Cincinnati. But the bean basis strengthened by 4 to 10 cents at soy crushing plants in Decatur, Illinois, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
On the CBOT, soybean futures Sv1 rose, recovering from a limit-down close a day earlier, as soyoil futures BOv1 soared 3% on optimism about new U.S. biofuel blending quotas.
U.S. President Donald Trump has invited farmers and biofuel producers to an agriculture event at the White House next week, two sources familiar with the planning said, as his administration prepares to finalize long-delayed biofuel blending quotas for 2026 and 2027 by the end of the month.
CBOT corn futures were narrowly mixed, steadying after the benchmark May contract CK26 dipped to $4.49-1/4 per bushel, its lowest in a week. GRA/
