March 16 (Reuters) - More than 500,000 homes and businesses were without power on Friday as severe storms battered the U.S. Midwest and Mid-Atlantic region, according to data from PowerOutage.us.
Michigan was hardest hit with around 125,000 outages, representing about 2.5% of the state's 5.1 million customers, according to the data.
The most severely impacted utility in Michigan was a unit of Consumers Energy with around 88,273 homes and businesses without service, followed by Alpena Power Company, with around 11,945.
