BUENOS AIRES, March 5 (Reuters) - Rainfall over the last week has improved the condition of Argentine soy and corn fields, the Buenos Aires grains exchange said on Thursday, as the crops are currently undergoing a key period of high water demand during the southern hemisphere summer.
Argentina is the world's top exporter of soybean oil and meal and the third largest supplier of corn.
The exchange expects the 2025/26 harvest will produce 48.5 million metric tons of soy and 57 million tons of corn.
Some 74% of fields planted with soy are in "normal or excellent" condition, as are 87% of cornfields, it said.
Farmers have harvested 7.2% of the area they planted with corn. The soy harvest is set to begin in April.
