Miner Vizsla continues remote work at Panuco after deadly Mexico abductions

- Canadian miner Vizsla Silver VZLA.TO said on Thursday that work on its Panuco silver-gold project will continue remotely as on-site operations remain suspended following the abduction of 10 workers last month in Concordia, Mexico.

The company said five employees remain unaccounted for.

Earlier this week, Mexico's attorney general's office said that it found 10 bodies in the municipality of Concordia, of which five have been identified. Forensic teams are working to identify the remaining five bodies.

Shares of the Vancouver-based company have fallen more than 43% since it first reported the abduction incident.

The group was kidnapped from the mine in an area security authorities say is under the control of the Chapitos, a faction of the Sinaloa cartel led by the sons of former drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman.

Mexico's security minister said on Tuesday the abductee may have been mistaken for members of a rival criminal group, after authorities questioned initial suspects in the case.
