RIO DE JANEIRO, June 18 (Reuters) - Brazil's state-run oil firm Petrobras PETR4.SA will make "a lot of effort" to issue extra dividends, Chief Executive Magda Chambriard said during a press conference on Wednesday.
"We hope there will be (extraordinary dividends). Let's see if the oil price level allows it," said Chambriard.
Brent oil crude prices are experiencing an upswing amid escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, rebounding after U.S. President Donald Trump global tariff rollout in April sent prices falling.
Petrobras, which cut gasoline prices in June for the first time since 2023, will not change prices due to the instability in the Middle East, only if a clear trend is confirmed, said Chambriard.
"For now, we'll just watch. If this war ends tomorrow, we'll go back to how it was before, right?," Chambriard said. "So let's wait a little longer, five days is still very little."
