CIF/FOB Gulf Grain-Soy, corn barge bids mixed amid US-China trade talks

CHICAGO, June 9 (Reuters) - Basis bids for soybeans delivered by barge to U.S. Gulf Coast terminals eased and corn bids firmed on Monday, as traders kept a close eye for news out of trade talks between the U.S. and China, traders said.

• Top U.S. and Chinese officials were meeting in London on Monday for talks aimed at defusing the high-stakes trade dispute that has widened in recent weeks beyond tit-for-tat tariffs.

• Chinese buyers have been in the market in recent days for South American soybeans, traders said.

• The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Monday reported weekly export inspections of U.S. corn in the latest week at 1,656,562 metric tons, topping a range of trade expectations for 1,000,000 to 1,600,000 tons.

• USDA also reported weekly export inspections of U.S. soybeans of 547,040 tons, exceeding trade expectations.

• Brazil's key center-south region had harvested 1.9% of its 2025 second corn crop as of last Thursday, agribusiness consultancy AgRural said on Monday, the lowest level for this time of year since 2021.

• Recent rains in the central U.S. could help boost river levels ahead of forecasts of extreme temperatures for later in the month, meteorologists and traders said.

• Volatility in the Chicago soybean futures market on Monday was driven in part by market participants seeking profits and adjusting their positions as part of the so-called Goldman roll, traders said.

• CIF soybean barges loaded in June were bid at 69 cents over Chicago Board of Trade July SN25 futures, down 1 cent. Deferred months ticked higher.

• July soybean loadings traded at 76 cents over July futures.

• FOB export premiums for soybeans loaded from the Gulf in June were offered at about 78 cents over July futures, which were unchanged.

• For corn, CIF barges loaded in June were bid at 66 cents over CBOT July corn futures CN25, up 1 cent.

• FOB export premiums for corn shipped from the Gulf in June were steady at about 82 cents over CBOT July corn futures.
