Hunt Refining's Alabama refinery operating at reduced rates after fire

NEW YORK, May 13 (Reuters) - Hunt Refining Company is operating its 50,000 barrel-per-day refinery in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at reduced rates following a fire last week, the privately-owned company said in a statement.

A fire broke out at the refinery's coker unit on May 7 as it suffered an external power outage while work was underway to restart it, the company said.

The company is currently reviewing the incident, and while the fire was contained and extinguished quickly, the coker unit remains down for repairs, Hunt Refining said.
