CHICAGO, May 2 (Reuters) - Corn and soybean basis bids were steady in the U.S. Midwest on Friday as selling remained slow and buyers finished rolling basis bids to the July contract, dealers said.
A focus on corn and soy planting has made farmers reluctant sellers.
Wet weather may delay seeding in parts of the U.S. Midwest, though market players expect farmers to be able to plant all of their intended crops.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has projected that corn plantings will climb by 5% in 2025 to their highest in 12 years.
Chicago Board of Trade soybean futures closed higher on Friday amid hopes for a thaw in U.S. President Donald Trump's trade war with China, the world's top importer of the oilseed, analysts said.
Chicago Board of Trade July soybeans SN25 rose 7-3/4 cents to end at $10.58 per bushel.
CBOT June corn futures CN25 slipped 3-1/4 cents to $4.69 per bushel.
