Mexico's Olmeca refinery gradually restarting operations, Pemex says

- Mexico's Olmeca refinery, run by state oil firm Pemex, is in a progressive start-up phase to restore its operations after an incident caused a temporary shutdown last week, the oil producer said on Wednesday.

Pemex said a communication failure at the southern Mexico refinery on Friday caused the automatic firing of part of its heat infrastructure, causing a steam failure and the consequent shutdown of processing plants, adding the incident did not put workers or nearby communities at risk.

President Claudia Sheinbaum had said on Tuesday the refinery was ready to restart production and rejected allegations the temporary outage had been caused by sabotage of its catalytic cracking unit.
