- (The Insurer) - Regional risk pool African Risk Capacity has partnered with reinsurer Klapton Re to offer climate insurance products for farmers and low-income families, starting in Zambia.

The two companies said they are set to launch a drought insurance product for rangeland areas in Zambia in November 2025, the first of a series of initiatives across Africa.

"ARC brings expertise in designing climate insurance solutions tailored to African needs, while Klapton Re brings deep market knowledge and access to communities on the ground," said Lesley Ndlovu, CEO of ARC.

The companies will develop products together, provide technical expertise to support local insurers and deliver training for brokers and agents.

They also say they will engage with regulatory bodies, conduct joint awareness campaigns on climate insurance and explore digital technologies that could help make coverage more efficient.
