Trump says he doubts U.S. Steel-Nippon deal will be part of trade talks with Japan
WASHINGTON, April 17 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday that a deal between U.S. Steel X.N and Nippon Steel 5401.T could be a part of tariff negotiations with Japan, but added he doubted it would be.
"If Nippon wants to come in here, they're working on it very hard. I have great respect for Nippon," he told a press briefing. "But we want to have U.S. Steel remain in this country."
