Shopify Stock Forecast: SHOP Holds C$223 Support as Its AI Checkout Push Faces Tuesday's Earnings Test
Shopify reports third-quarter results on Tuesday, November 3, with analysts expecting revenue of $3.74 billion, adjusted EPS of $0.45, and GMV of $118.7 billion. Trading at roughly 87 times 2026 earnings, valuation leaves little margin for error. While Shopify benefits from AI checkout integration with Meta, premium pricing requires strong holiday guidance and GMV performance to sustain momentum. Technically, the broader uptrend remains intact above key support at C$223.55, with a daily close above C$235.91 targeting C$256.08. A breakdown below support risks ending the September rally, directing focus toward C$213.56.

TradingKey - Shopify (SHOP) reports third-quarter results before the US open on Tuesday, November 3. The stock slipped 0.75% to C$233.70 on Thursday, October 29, after pulling back from its October high of C$256.08, but the uptrend that began in September is still intact.
Shopify has become one of the clearest bets on AI shopping, with Shop Pay now handling checkout inside AI assistants such as Meta's Muse. That story has lifted the stock to about 87 times 2026 earnings, so Tuesday's report needs more than a beat.
What Wall Street Expects
Shopify reports in US dollars. Analysts expect revenue of about $3.74 billion, up about 31%, and adjusted EPS of about $0.45, up from about $0.34, according to Zacks. Gross merchandise volume, or GMV, the total value of goods sold through Shopify, is expected at about $118.7 billion, up about 29% from $92.0 billion.
Shopify guided to revenue growth in the low 30s percent, operating expenses of 33% to 34% of revenue and a free cash flow margin, the share of revenue left as cash after capital spending, in the high teens to low 20s.
Q2 Set a Strong Pace
In Q2, revenue rose 34% to $3.58 billion and GMV grew 32% to $115.6 billion. Payments penetration, the share of GMV processed through Shopify Payments, reached 68%, Shop Pay GMV rose 53%, and AI-driven orders to Shopify stores tripled from a year earlier. The stock jumped about 17% after that report, according to 24/7 Wall St.
One number to watch is transaction and loan losses, which rose to $141 million from $80 million a year earlier.
The AI Checkout Push
In September, Shopify and Meta announced that merchants can sell directly inside Muse, Meta's AI assistant, with Shop Pay handling checkout. On October 28, Shopify's Fall '26 Edition added more than 150 updates, including tools that let shoppers discover products and pay with Shop Pay inside AI agents. Management has said "more agentic GMV means more Shopify revenue."
That is the opposite of Reddit's problem last week. Reddit fell sharply after warning that Google's AI search is cutting its traffic, while Shopify is positioning itself where AI agents complete purchases, not where they search.
Valuation Leaves Little Room
Shopify trades at about 87 times 2026 EPS estimates and more than 110 times trailing earnings. Oppenheimer raised its target on the US-listed shares to $205 from $175 on October 23, but the average analyst target of about $177 is only about 7% above the recent US price. The CFO has also warned that Shopify has not set a "new normal" for free cash flow margins.
In my view, GMV and the holiday-quarter outlook matter most. A GMV beat with steady spending would support the premium, while a soft Q4 guide or a free cash flow margin slip could hit the stock hard after its rally.
Shopify Technical Analysis: Daily Close Above C$235.91 Could Reopen C$256.08
On the TSX daily chart, SHOP has pulled back from its October high at C$256.08 and now sits just under C$235.91, near the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement, a level traders use to measure how much of a rally has been given back. Buyers have so far defended the rising trendline from the September low, and price stays above the 50-day and 100-day EMAs, moving averages that give more weight to recent prices, at C$217.02 and C$202.27, so the bigger uptrend is intact.
RSI, a momentum gauge that runs from 0 to 100, has cooled to about 55, and the MACD, a trend-following momentum indicator, has crossed below its signal line, so upside momentum is fading.

SHOP Price Chart - Source: Tradingview
A daily close above C$235.91 could reopen C$256.08, then C$267.53. On the downside, C$223.55 is key support, and a close below it would open the way for C$213.56. Tuesday's report is likely to decide which level gives way first.
I'm cautiously bullish while SHOP holds above C$223.55, with C$256.08 as the upside target.

The bias is cautiously bullish above C$223.55 on the TSX daily chart. A daily close above C$235.91 targets C$256.08 and C$267.53, while a close below C$223.55 opens C$213.56.
Bottom Line
Shopify is well placed to gain from AI shopping, but at about 87 times earnings, Tuesday's GMV and holiday guidance have to confirm it. The level that matters is C$223.55. I expect buyers to keep defending it if GMV beats, while a close below it would end the September uptrend and open C$213.56.
