Trump Says He'll Hold Iran Responsible for Future Houthi Strikes

President Donald Trump said the US would hold Iran accountable for future strikes by the Houthis, after the rebel group backed by Tehran hit commercial ships transiting the Red Sea.
“The US will hold Iran responsible, in that the Houthis are a Surrogate and/or Proxy of Iran, and major military punishment will be inflicted upon Iran and, of course, the Houthis, themselves,” Trump said in a social media post Thursday.
The militant group, which is based in Yemen, said it had targeted two Saudi Arabian oil tankers in the Red Sea with missiles and drones — an action that threatens to further choke vital energy flows and widen the conflict between the US and Iran.
