Sablier Labs announced it will stop active development due to the impact of AI and a sluggish market

On-chain token distribution protocol Sablier Labs announced it is ceasing active product development and entering maintenance mode until June 2028. Existing user services will remain unaffected, smart contracts will run permanently on-chain, and the interface will eventually become an open-source public good.

Founder Paul Razvan Berg stated that usage and revenue saw a significant decline in Q1 2026, primarily due to the worsening crypto market causing clients to delay launches, and AI-assisted coding drastically reducing the cost of replicating Sablier's products. The team explored avenues such as lock-up NFTs and custom rollups without success. The company believes there are no venture capital-scale independent business opportunities in the on-chain token distribution space.

Sablier has prematurely transitioned its core smart contracts from a BUSL license to GPL, making them fully open-source.
