United States (US) President Donald Trump used a post on Truth Social to declare that the US has "total control" over the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday., Trump boasted about the American naval presence near the Persian Gulf, which he described as "a wall of steel". The President said the strategy leaves Iran with no way to contest it. "I think we will keep it," he wrote.

In the same post, Trump characterized Iran's military as hollowed out, saying the country "has no Navy" and "no Air Force," that its remaining soldiers are unpaid, and that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is "decimated and fleeing." He also questioned the standing of Iran's leadership, calling it "uncertain, at best."

On the economy, Trump said Iran "has no money," that the country is "shot," and pointed to inflation at "300%" and rising. He dismissed Iranian statements on the standoff as "fake news," saying Iran is "all talk and no action" and is "the Bully of the Middle East No Longer."
