California Governor Hints at Issuing 'Trump Corruption Coin' as WLFI Launches

TradingKey – On Monday, September 1, the Trump family’s DeFi governance token WLFI will debut for spot trading on major crypto venues — including Bithumb, Binance, and OKX — rekindling debate over the family’s expanding crypto empire. California Governor Gavin Newsom has been among the loudest critics.

Newsom recently accused President Trump and his family of exploiting crypto projects for personal gain, warning that their activities are “blurring the ethical lines.” On the “Pivot” podcast, he went a step further — teasing plans to launch a satirical memecoin dubbed the “Trump Corruption Coin.”

His stunt echoes the origin of Dogecoin in 2013, when IBM engineer Billy Markus and Adobe engineer Jackson Palmer created a parody token that unexpectedly took off. If Newsom’s “Trump Corruption Coin” comes to market, its meme-driven appeal could likewise spark a frenzy — making it a story to watch.
