Cloudflare Shares Continue Higher as Clawdbot Excitement Builds

Cloudflare shares are trading roughly 14% higher in pre-market on Tuesday, extending a 9.6% gain posted Monday as investors continue to respond to growing excitement around Clawdbot, an open-source AI agent.

The stock surge followed weekend social media buzz about Clawdbot, an AI assistant built to work with Anthropic’s Claude that runs locally on devices and performs tasks autonomously. Cloudflare’s global edge network is positioned to support the secure, low-latency infrastructure needed for such AI applications.

RBC Capital analyst Matt Hedberg on Tuesday attributed Cloudflare’s strength to "investors making a derivative call around an increase in AI workloads including Anthropic’s Claude Code and Cowork as well as a new open-source AI assistant, Clawdbot."

Hedberg clarified that "despite its name, Clawdbot is not part of Anthropic’s Claude but rather an open source project designed to work well with Anthropic Claude but also supports other LLMs."

Wolfe Research noted Monday that "Clawdbot is an open-source AI agent built on Anthropic’s Claude - effectively an AI employee that runs locally on your device and executes tasks autonomously." The firm added that "as these agents scale (making API calls, accessing websites, routing inference requests) they require secure, low-latency infrastructure. Cloudflare’s global edge network is well-suited to support exactly that."

While analysts don’t expect Clawdbot to immediately impact Cloudflare’s financial results, they see the technology as validation of the company’s strategic position. Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince previously stated on the Q3 earnings call that "80% of the leading AI companies already rely on us" and that "agents of the future will inherently have to pass through our network."

Wolfe Research called this "a big moment for edge computing" and "a clear positive for NET," noting that developers are already using Cloudflare Tunnels to securely host Clawdbot instances.
